Dining with the Ambassador: Rare Look at an Old Cocoanut Grove Menu

Thanks to regular Franklin Avenue reader Tess -- who's a huge Ambassador Hotel buff (she even bought an Ambassador table I had to unload) -- we get these cool images of an old Cocoanut Grove menu.

The menu dates all the way back to March 4, 1945. It's pretty fascinating to see just how differently restaurant goers ate back then -- bleech. Lucky we live in modern times.

Wow, it's amazing that somebody still has the old menu. It sure is interesting how the food was back then!

Thanks for posting this (and all your great content). I just found out my Grandpa used to sing at the Cocoanut Grove, so it's great to see this stuff.

I just found a menu from the Fountain Room at the Ambassador
The menu is dated May 8 1945 it also has a awsome map of Los Angeles drawn by Justin Wright
Amazing you could get a filet mignon steak for $2.75
